Academic partnership with Swiss School of Management

 

 

Swiss School of Management having Management School setup in Italy, London and headquarters at Switzerland has joined hands with Chandigarh Business School, Landran to form academic alliance in order to provide world class education in the field of Business Management. The academic alliance would enable the undergraduate students currently pursuing their BBA degree from CBS to pursue higher education at Swiss School of Management, while those pursuing their post-graduation course of PGDM can opt for dual degree program.

Dr. Massimilioino Bracale, President, Swiss School of Management discussed the proposal with Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chairman and Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President, Chandigarh Group of Colleges during his visit to the campus. Dr. Bracale lauded the efforts of the management for providing world class infrastructure to the students of the region.

While interacting with the students, Dr. Bracale informed them that the Swiss Banks manage about 1/3rd of world’s total capital. “Switzerland is known for providing Quality in what ever they do”, he said. Dr. Bracale further added that Switzerland has the world’s best Business Schools, Polytechnics, Hotels and Hospitals. The common thinking to make our students as the best professionals in their field has brought us and CBS Landran together sharing common platform. With some of their students working for organizations like United Nations, Swiss Bank, the students of CBS in association with Swiss School of Management will also get International opportunities.

Satnam Singh Sandhu and Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal welcomed the proposal put up by the Swiss School of Management to form academic alliance which would enable the students of CBS, Landran to earn Swiss degree along with their Indian Degree which would add to their professional and academic life and will ultimately enhance their employment options.

Chandigarh Business School, Landrn, Mohali organized a National Conference on “ A new vision of marketing in the 21st Century: Opportunities and challenges for India  Inc” on 12 & 13 Sep,2008. The two days conference comprised of 3 technical sessions on the first day to include retail, services and e-marketing. The speakers amongst others included Mr Kamal Vadera, CEO, TCY online, Dr Prem Kumar, Advisor, Vardhaman group, Mr KA Ravi, Sr VP,Swamy Vivekanand BBDO, New Delhi, Mr Arpan Agarwal, Director, Northstar Safety Solutions and Mr Balwant Gurunay, Corporate Trainer.
The conference turned out to be a grand success and all the participants were thoroughly impressed with the deliveries of the experts.
The conference later witnessed research based paper presentation by the   various Academic Institutes. The students participated whole heartedly and asked a large number of questions to clarify their doubts on various vital issues of marketing scenario of 21st century.
Mr Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chairman and Mr Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal thanked the distinguished speakers for their valuable time to deliver their addresses in the conference and also the faculty for their presentation of research based papers. They emphasized the need for a strong research cell for the Chandigarh Business School so that it may meet the requirements if the Industry  not only in Punjab but also at the National level. They complimented Dr SPS Bedi , Director for organizing a successful conference.

Dr. Bracale. President, Swiss School of Management visits Chandigarh Business School on Wednesday, 6th august, 2008.

Dr. Massimilioino Bracale, President, Swiss School of Management visited the Chandigarh Business School on Wednesday the August 6th to address the students on the opportunities in Europe for the students who wish to pursue professional courses there. Dr. SPS Bedi, Director, Chandigarh Business School welcomed the guest and expressed confidence that Chandigarh Business School shall be keen to have a mutually rewarding relationship with the Swiss Business School. Dr. Bracale assured the students of the quality of education in Switzerland adding that Switzerland is known for producing world class products and services. He added that each year Switzerland draws maximum number of students from Punjab and Haryana many of whom are very well settled there. Dr. G. D. Bansal, Director-General, giving the vote of thanks to the visiting dignitary thanked him for visiting the Chandigarh Group of Colleges.

Dr. Bracale during his visit discussed various avenues of cooperation between Chandigarh Group of Colleges and Swiss School of Management.

Dr. Bracale was also taken around the CGC campus in general and  CBS in particular. He was extremely happy and impressed to see the world class infrastructure, experienced faculty and above all quality conscious approach of the group of excel in various fields of education. He praised S. Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chairman and S. Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President of Chandigarh Group of colleges for the visionary & dynamic leadership in providing  top class quality education to the students in various fields.


Seminar on “Indo US Nuclear deal- A boon or a Bane”

Chandigarh Business School organized a seminar on the topic” “Indo US Nuclear deal- A boon or a Bane” on 29th July, 2008 at CBS campus. Eminent speakers like Mr Kanwar Sandhu, Editor, Hindustan Times, Dr Pramod Kumar, Director Institute of Development and Communication, Chandigarh, Prof MM Puri, Ex VC, Panjab University, Chandigarh, Prof UC Singh, Ex Dean Academics, Punjabi Universty, Prof H S Mehta, Ex Head, English Deptt, P.U. Chandigarh spoke on the subject and later participated in a panel discussion. The seminar remained like a live wire with all the speakers giving their views in a very forceful and effective manner. The presentations made by the speakers answered all the questions that were lurking in the minds of the participants. The students actively participated and asked intelligent and meaningful questions which were amply appreciated and answered by the speakers. The Seminar was an unparalleled success of the “Team CBS.”


BBA Orientation Programme

Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) has also been added to the list of courses being offered by Chandigarh Business School (CBS) with effect from the current academic session. Orientation programme for the BBA students is already under progress. Subjects like personality and communication development, team building, motivation, leadership, managerial economics, financial accounting are being introduced to the students. The response from the students is very encouraging.

Lecture was organized by CBS on Leadership for Modern Times on Friday, 4th july, 2008.

An Extended Lecture had been organized by CBS on Leadership for Modern Times on Friday, 4th july, 2008 for which Mr. Vinay Mehta, CEO, Pole Vault Technologies, Chandigarh was invited as a guest speaker at CBS. He emphasized on the significance of Leadership Skills in the recent times for tailor-made managers for the holistic development of  the organization. The lecture was followed by an interrogative session conducted by the guest speaker to quench the thirst of budding managers in which the students participated actively & enthusiastically. The students found the session very informative and useful. During the lecture, the Director, CBS, the Dean, CBS and the other faculty members were mainly present.


Admission to MBA is based on MET conducted by Punjab State and this year the same is to be conducted by Punjabi University, Patiala on 13th july, 2008.


Orientation Course for PGDM 2008-2010

CBS organized the inaugural ceremony of its New Batch of PGDM 2008-10 on 23rd June 2008. The inaugural ceremony started with lamp lighting and prayers. The new students were formally welcome by the Mr. Satnam Singh Sandhu Hon’ble Chairman, Chandigarh Group of Colleges and Mr Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, Hon’ble President, Chandigarh Group of Colleges. In their speeches, they called upon the students to work round the clock to gather maximum knowledge and improve upon their personality as well as communication skills to beat the global competition.

 Dr. G.D Bansal, Director General, Chandigarh group of Colleges apprised the students of the vision and mission of the group and plans for providing the world class instructions to the students . He assured the students of excellent placements provided they equipped themselves with requisite  skills during the next two years. Dr. (Col) SPS Bedi, Director CBS briefed the students about the CBS, PGDM curriculum, teaching methodology, assessment system and placement plans. He also emphasized the need of rounding up the rough edges of personality and sharpening of communication skills to ensure worth while placements. He also called upon the students to be punctual and well disciplined to gain maximum mileage from the training.

The students were also addressed by Dr. H.S. Saini, Principal Chandigarh Engineering College and Er. A.C. Sharma, Director HRD & Administration.

Later, the new students were taken around the complete campus of Chandigarh Group of Colleges to familiarize them with the various constituents of the group. The students seemed to be extremely happy to be a part of the leading educational hub of Chandigarh the city beautiful.

Chandigarh Business School, Landran, Mohali has taken a new leap by organizing a six weeks duration Orientation Course for their Student-Managers of PGDM Batch 2008-10.

The Inaugural Ceremony was conducted on 23rd June wherein the Student-Managers of the Chandigarh Group of Colleges were briefed by various functionaries of the Group.

The Student-Managers were taken around the sprawling campus area including various Colleges and allied facilities.

The Orientation Program comprises of activities like Personality Development, Communication Skills Development, Motivation, Team-Building & Leadership exercises. The Students-Managers will also be exposed to various difficult subjects of the curriculum to include Financial Accounting, Managerial Economics, Statistics & Quantitative techniques. A series of guest lectures have also been planned wherein eminent speakers from corporate sector and academia will share their views & experiences on various topics of importance to the Management students. CBS is confident of bringing all the Student – Managers on to the same frequency before the main course content of PGDM commences in August this year.   


Lecture on Cross-Cultural Management was held on Wednesday, the 14th May, 2008.

Mr. Paul Brothe, Managing Director of the U.S based multinational giant Quark India, visited the Chandigarh Group of Colleges on Wednesday, the 14th May to deliver lecture on Cross-Cultural Management with special reference to Mergers & Acquisitions to the students of Chandigarh Business School. Mr.Sofi Zahoor, Director – HR, Quark India accompanied the visiting dignitary. Mr. S.S. Sandhu, Chairman and Mr. A.C. Sharma, Director-HRD of the Chandigarh Group of Colleges extended a hearty welcome to Mr. Brothe.

Delivering his lecture Mr. Brothe said that Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) is the key to growth in the present era of globalization, for the corporates, countries and even economies. He cited the examples of corporates from around the world such as, Tatas, Microsoft, Cisco etc. to make his point. Notwithstanding 60 per cent of the cases turning out to be  failures in Mergers and Acquisitions, it does not undermine its importance. Mr. Brothe cited language, organizational structure and technology as some of the problems that need to be tackled for smooth M&As. His lecture was followed by a question- answer session in which Mr. Broth along with Mr. Zahoor answered the enthusiastic queries from the students and the faculty members. Dr. G.D. Bansal, the Director-General of Chandigarh Group of Colleges thanked the visiting dignitaries for the informative and thought provoking lecture and for visiting the institute.

 Hero Mind Mine a reputed company in the field of training & development conducted a workshop for the students of Chandigarh Business School. Mr. Vishal Gupta a Sr. Training Consultant & Mr. Robin S Grewal engaged the students in a gripping & educative session to impart training in personality development & improvement of communication skills. They also organized interesting games to draw some valuable lessons for the participants. The students & the faculty thoroughly enjoyed & benefited from the workshop.

The MBA Department of Chandigarh Engineering College and Chandigarh Business school  held a National seminar on "Transformation of HR in the emerging Global Order" on 19th April, 2008 in  Hotel mount view from 09:00 AM - 5:30 PM. Dr S.K salwan, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor PTU was the Chief guest and delivered the thematic  address. CBS students won prizes in 10 events in Management fest held at Chaitkara Business School “Bizcoons-08”.

Contingent consisting of 23 students of Chandigarh Business School participated in the Management Fest “Bizcoons-08” held at Chitkara Business School.  14 management colleges from Punjab and Union Territory participated in this event. CBS participated in 12 events and won the prizes in 10 events. 1st position has been secured in 3 events, 2nd position in 6 events and 3rd position in 1 event.
