Brief details of the event highlights: MBA Dept., Chandigarh Business School of Administration, CGC Landran organized two-days “Banking and Finance Conclave 2022” for MBA students on 20th-21st April, 2022. The theme for this conclave was apt as the present times “DIGITAL FINANCIAL LITERACY AND INCLUSION TOWARDS PROSPERITY”.
The conclave’s day-1 began with a lamp lightening ceremony followed by a welcome address by Prof. (Dr.) Ramandeep Saini Director –Principal, CBSA. Prof. Saini accentuated the importance of the conclave and advised students to make the most of this conclave. The inaugural address was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) P. N. Hrisheekesha Campus Director, CGC Landran. Prof. Hrisheekesha emphasized the significance of digital literacy and its relevance.
The keynote speakers for today were Dr. Anil Kumar Yadav General Manager, Reserve Bank of India, Chandigarh, Mr. Dinesh Seth, Senior Vice President and Zonal Head, HDFC Bank, Chandigarh and Mr. Iqbal Singh Founder & Managing Director, Innovative Financial Management, Pvt. Ltd.
Mr. Seth discussed the basics and initiatives taken by banks for digital financial literacy and financial inclusion. Mr. Singh motivated the students for innovative financial management. There was an interesting discussion on the shift from ‘Know Your Customer’ to ‘Own Your Customer’. Lastly our eminent keynote speaker Dr. Yadav enlightened the students regarding the various initiatives taken by RBI towards digital financial literacy. He discussed the impact of demonetization, digital literacy camps and initiatives taken by RBI towards secure digital transactions.
There was a theatrical presentation on ‘Digital Financial Inclusion’ delivered by MBA students followed by various activities namely Corporate Case Challenge, The Great CBSA Traders and group discussion on FINTALK.
The day-1 of the conclave was concluded with in-depth knowledge sharing and student activities.
The day-2 of the conclave started with panel discussion on the theme of the conclave. The highlight of the panel discussion was moderated by Dr. Sonam Sharma Assistant Professor, CBSA and IPR In charge, R&D Dept., CGC. There were six distinguished panelist namely Mr. Upkar Singh, Lead District Manager, Punjab National Bank, Mohali, Mr. Rakesh Tandon, Senior Vice President and Location Head (Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh) RBL Bank. Mr. Sumit Prabhakar, Associate Director, Infrastructure Development Finance Company First Bank, Chandigarh, Mr. Puneet Nirmal, Deputy Vice-President, IndusInd Bank, Chandigarh, Ms. Amanjot Kaur, Director, Innovative Financial Management Pvt. Ltd., Chandigarh, Mr. Amrinder Singh, Director, White Rock Wealth, Chandigarh. The panel discussion revolved around the significance of digital finance literacy, financial inclusion and prosperity. The panel discussion also invited questions from the audience and all the panelists shared their knowledge. After the panel discussion results of Skill Based BFSI Olympiad FinBee conducted by the team of IFM Pvt. Ltd. declared and an online live quiz activity was also conducted for the students which was powered by joinmyquiz.com.
Lastly, the prize distribution ceremony for the students and felicitation of guests were offered by Prof. Hrisheekesha and Prof. Saini. To conclude the conclave vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Smiti Jhajj, HOD, MBA, CBSA, CGC Landran.
Learning for the students: The expert talks and panel discussions were not only aligned with their digital financial literacy, inclusion and prosperity but also imparted knowledge concerning its practical implications in real life.
