Brief details of the event highlights : Finance Club of Chandigarh Business School of Administration organized an Expert Talk on Financial Literacy on 29 thOctober, 2018 at 12:00 noon, delivered by BSE Experts/officials, followed by Q & A session, where participants cleared their doubts about various financial instruments. The objective of the session will be to provide knowledge about Role of capital Market, Function of stock Exchange, Risk Management, Trading, clearing and settlement system, Investors’ Grievance Redressal Committee, Mutual Funds, Various investment products and safeguards.

Response of the audience/ learning for the students : Both the speakers delivered their presentations in a very interactive manner which made the content easier to absorb and understand for students. The students asked numerous questions about the intricacies of the stock market which were answered satisfactorily by Mr. Sokhi and Mr. Mehta.

7. Expert Narration: Chandigarh Business School of Administration organized a “Financial Literacy Session” in association with Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on Monday, October 29, 2018. The idea behind conducting the session was to create an awareness and understanding of financial markets among the students. The session was delivered by Mr. Harbinder Singh Sokhi, Manager-IPF, BSE, Delhi Registered Office and by Mr. Jubin Mehta, AGM, SEBI, Chandigarh Registered Office. Mr. Jubin Mehta shared important information about how SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India) regulates the securities market in India. In his presentation, he also explained some of the main functions of SEBI like to protect the interest of investors and provide safety for their investment. He further described how SEBI has a vital role to play to prohibit Unfair Trade practices i.e. not allowing the companies to make misleading statements which can induce the sale of purchase of securities by any other person.

Mr. Sokhi mentioned that everything that appears profitable may not be profitable in reality. He advised the students to take an informed decision, and not invest money because somebody has told them to do so. He quoted many instances wherein many have lost their entire savings in the stock market and on the other hand, there are smart investors who had made lot of money in the same market.
