Details of the Expert: Name: Mr. Atul Pandey, a qualified Advance Excel trainer Organisation: EME Technologies, Mohali
Brief details of the event highlights: Department of Commerce, CBSA organized a one week Summer School Program on Advanced Excel & Financial Modelling from 25th -29th July 2022 in collaboration with EME Technologies, Mohali. The Total duration of the course was 20 hours which was distributed in 5 days a week. This course was organised keeping in consideration the ever-growing demand of Advanced excel and financial modelling skills required in industry in today’s competitive era. The program was organised with an objective to equip students with hands-on experience on the application of basic and advanced MS-Excel, better data management in an organized format.
This summer school program was an initiative by the department to familiarize the interested students with current requirements of the industry and working of Advanced MS Excel software which will help them to get better foresight of various formulas and help them in getting campus and off campus placements. Apart from this the program also covered Financial Modelling which is a process of creating a summary of a company's expenses and earnings in the form of a spreadsheet that can be used to calculate the impact of a future event or decision. The most interesting part of the program learning was that students learnt how to define what criteria they want to count out of a raw data list that is not already broken into different categories. In regards to presenting raw data visually, they will learn how to create both scatter plots and histograms.
Response of the Audience: All students participated enthusiastically in summer school program with an objective to enhance their Excel skills and learn financial modelling in order to get best placement opportunities in future.
